Our 5th grade students are hard at work. We are also working on our art for the Original Works fundraiser. YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT! I am freaking out at how talented your kids are! They truly are inspiring and creative kids. I hope you enjoy this preview of their Tropical Paradise paintings. We talked about using tempera paints and how to blend/water them to create the color/colors we are looking for. We also drew from our imaginations and images to create our own Tropical paradises. You should be very proud of these kids.

4th grade has finished their first step in their project for our Original Works fundraiser project! We talked about animals that are living under the sea. We then talked about positive and negative space and analogous colors. We discussed how to fill the space on our page. Students' selected their underwater animal and drew it with black glue. Then they added some lines in the negative space to break it up. The next step is for them to add any 3 analogous colors to their animals. Great work 4th grade! Keep an eye out for the fundraiser packets in about a month!
There are more fundraisers for the art room! Follow this link to donate to support the art room with sharpies!! Click this link to support the effort to get jewelry making supplies for 5th grade students to learn about art related careers! The 5th grade self portraits of why they are awesome kids are all finished and ready to be hung up for the 5th grade performance on October 2nd. For this project we focused on using symbols to convey 'why we are awesome' because artists use images and authors use words. We also used mirrors to create our self-portraits from direct observation. Hope to see you at the performance and enjoy the preview of the students' work! in art class we call stem steam. The A stands for Art. I had all of fourth grade for our first steam day and they had a blast!!! If you haven’t looked at the previous post you should; it has the introduction video I showed all students. The video explained the challenge. Students had to create a bridge that spans from one side of the river to the other so that Green Lantern can continue fighting the bad guys. Check out the pictures of some successful bridge building teams!!! Way to go 4th grade!! |
