Wow! These Kindergarten students definitely have the hang of pattern and texture! We started by using simple shapes to draw our Zebras! We then talked about patterns and how to create them! Then using black and white paint we added stripes to our Zebra. We also painting our very puppy and organic shapes cloud. Next we talked about texture and how when we paint texture it's called visual texture. We closed our eyes and described how grass feels when we pat it. Then we painted that spiky feeling for our grass! Last we created our patterned boarder to glue our painting onto and Viola! Job well done!

Kindergarten learned all about different types of lines in this easy and wonderful one day project. You will find the lesson under my lessons page or here. We talked about how line is the most basic element of art and that there are many different types of lines. We learned about and drew five of them: straight, zig zag, broken, bumpy, and my personal favorite loop-de-loop! After we drew our lines, we learned all the colors of the rainbow in the order they go. We painted our colors in that order from left to right. We connected this direction to when they read a book, they read from left to right! What a fun and easy project!
wheh. I spent 5 hours behind my desk researching, writing, and creating new lessons for you guys today and I’m exhausted! Can’t wait to try them all out! Stay tuned to the blog for current and upcoming projects. So now for some good hot tea and some sleep. See you all in the morning.
Happy new year and welcome to my new blog! I am hoping to really enjoy this one and post up much more items. I was at a professional development yesterday with other fellow art teachers and one asked me if I post my art project videos so students can watch and use at home. !!!!! Duh! Well why don't I, I asked myself. I can also post what we are doing for parents to see and create fun challenges for students wishing to do something at home! So here we go. Today is my first day back in my art room of the new year and I already have a huge list of items I need to get done. I plan on reorganizing my oil pastels, sorting and changing out my watercolor paints, ordering some new fun items for new project ideas, and planning for upcoming lessons! Hurray! So welcome back and I am looking forward to the rest of the year's art journey with you!
