Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer, I know I did! Well we are already 3 weeks in and have managed to complete 2 projects! We are on a roll! The following picture is the result of a collaborative mural every student in the school contributed to. Every student used the element of line to create patterns then colored their petal their class color. I put all the petals together to create a flower! The students loved this project and were very excited to see the end result. Keep being creative!

For this project I wanted to focus on three things.
1. I wanted students to learn to work collaboratively towards a common goal 2. I wanted students to learn what a sculpture was 3. I wanted students to learn that art is meant to be shared. Students were either assigned a partner or partnered with a friend. They were challenged to work together to create a sculpture of a tree. When completed they selected a CCSD employee in this school to give their tree to. I called them Cheering trees. They are meant to spread a little springtime cheer. Ask your student about them and they will share with you who they selected and what they learned. #kindnessmatters Last friday all eight fifth grade classes made their way to the art room throughout the day. We talked about positive and negative space earlier in the week to prepare for this day. Then using chalk, water, and paper, we created positive and negative space in a really cool way. Check out all the pictures! Tomorrow will be our first, not STEM, STEAM day in art class! We have a "Help the Hero" challenge. I hope you all enjoy it and here is the video of the challenge I will be showing for 4th grade. See you all tomorrow! |
