This project turned out incredible! For this project we explored the process of Gelli printing. Students selected two analogous colors as their base, printed, selected two more totally different colors, added stencils to the paint, and then printed a final time. The result is this really cool negative effect! I love love love these. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

We are having a blast with this project. Students pick an ocean animal that they love and draw it as large as they can. We talked about how to place the animal in an interesting place in the composition. Doing this will make their artwork more interesting. Next we traced all the lines with black glue and let it dry. The glue created a sort of raised line. Then we talked about analogous colors (any three colors next to each other on the color wheel). Students picked their analogous colors and used a blending technique I taught them to color their animal. Finally they will choose a totally different color or two to color their background. I hope you enjoy! This project is for the first fundraiser of the year for the Art Room! Check out the in works pictures below!
4th grade has finished their first step in their project for our Original Works fundraiser project! We talked about animals that are living under the sea. We then talked about positive and negative space and analogous colors. We discussed how to fill the space on our page. Students' selected their underwater animal and drew it with black glue. Then they added some lines in the negative space to break it up. The next step is for them to add any 3 analogous colors to their animals. Great work 4th grade! Keep an eye out for the fundraiser packets in about a month!
